A setting designed with students in mind

Organizing a school nautical activity requires more than a simple activity

For a school, a nautical outing can’t be chosen just because it “looks good”. It requires a clear framework, reliable supervision, an activity adapted to the real level of the students, organization compatible with the school’s constraints, and a progression that makes sense from an educational point of view.

Each session is tailored to the group: age of students, number of students, skill level, learning objectives, duration and weather conditions of the day. Our aim is not just to offer an “outing”, but to provide a real, useful and appropriate supervised nautical experience – and to simplify the organization from A to Z.

Adapted progression

Initiation, discovery or improvement: the session is designed according to the level of the group and the objectives of the establishment – not according to a standard program slightly modified.

Reassuring setting

Students are accompanied right from the briefing, with simple instructions, adapted equipment and a supervisory presence on the water. You concentrate on your students – Yak’Ocean takes care of the rest.

Collective experience

Nautical activities encourage mutual aid, coordination and cohesion, without seeking individual performance at all costs.

Discovery, progress, cooperation

Canoeing, paddling and Hawaiian pirogue for schoolchildren

Yak’Ocean offers three main formats for school groups. The choice depends on the age of the pupils, their level, the size of the group, the time available and the weather conditions.

01.
Canoeing

Learn to move around on the water and become more independent

Canoeing is an ideal way to discover the basics of navigation: getting on board, propelling yourself, turning, braking, keeping your balance and evolving in a natural setting. Depending on the group’s level, the session can focus on initiation, technical progress or a supervised course.

Ideal for: discovery, independence, coordination, effort management Format: introductory or advanced
Objective: learn to move on water with confidence

02.
Stand-up Paddle

To work on balance, concentration and confidence

Stand-up paddling is a fun, progressive activity. Students learn to manage their balance, use their paddle, move around and adapt their posture. The session can be very accessible for beginners, or more technical for groups already at ease.

Ideal for: balance, coordination, self-confidence
Format: initiation or technical progression
Objective: evolve standing or kneeling on a board

03.
Hawaiian pirogue

For a truly collective experience on the water

The Hawaiian pirogue is based on collective coordination: students have to paddle together, listen to the rhythm and understand that efficiency comes from working together. It’s a great way to work on cohesion, listening and mutual aid.
Ideal for: cooperation, cohesion, group rhythm Format: supervised group session
Objective: move forward together thanks to crew coordination

How is your project progressing?

From plant request to water session

Organizing a school nautical activity requires a number of factors to be taken into account before the big day: student levels, teaching objectives, weather, safety, transport, available time and choice of the right format. Yak’Ocean will work with you from the outset to design a session adapted to your class, anticipate constraints and simplify organization for the school.

1

You transmit the main information

Class level, number of participants, date, duration, educational objectives, transport, ease of use in the water and any special constraints: you give us all the information we need.

2

Yak’Ocean recommends the right format

The team studies your group, the weather, the level of the students and your objectives to propose the most coherent activity, with an alternative planned if necessary.

3

The session is prepared in advance

Organization, equipment, supervision, instructions, weather and schedule are all anticipated before the big day to limit unforeseen events and ensure a safe session on the water.

4

On D-Day, students are guided

Welcome, briefing, equipment, launching, progressive exercises and calming down: students are accompanied step by step by the Yak’Ocean team.

Practical questions

Preparing your school outing

Are you organizing an outing for a school, college, high school or youth group? Find answers to the most frequently asked questions: activities on offer, level required, supervision, safety, equipment provided, weather, duration, budget and organization of the outing file.
School sessions are supervised by professionals holding BPEJPS water sports qualifications, with a specialization in canoeing and kayaking and associated disciplines. Their qualifications comply with the regulatory requirements applicable to water sports activities in schools. Yak’Ocean can provide you with the supporting documents you need to put together your outing file.
Prices depend on the activity chosen, the number of students, the duration and the level of supervision required. Yak’Ocean will draw up a precise quote based on your information – with no obligation on your part.
No. The sessions can be designed as a first discovery. The instructions are progressive, the staff accompany the students step by step, and the objective is not performance: it’s all about progressing, coordinating and participating according to one’s level. Activities are therefore adapted to the actual level of the group, even for less athletic or less comfortable students. To take part in water sports, however, you need to be able to swim.

The session begins with a structured briefing: instructions, equipment, behavior on the water, rules for moving around and what to do. Students are equipped with approved equipment and supervised by qualified professionals throughout the activity.

Weather conditions are taken into account right from the start. If the conditions do not allow for safe and suitable water sports on the day, Yak’Ocean systematically offers an alternative or a postponement to a date chosen together – at no extra cost and without you having to deal with the unexpected.

Yes, activities can be offered as one-off sessions, discovery sessions or progression cycles, enabling students to acquire greater ease and skills over the course of sessions.

The duration is tailored to your facility’s constraints. Yak’Ocean can offer a short discovery format (1h30-2h).

Send us your initial details: class level, number of students, desired date, available time, planned location and objectives of the outing. Yak’Ocean will get back to you within 48 hours with a non-binding proposal.
